Kiulu Camp

Kiulu Kem Malangang:  My colleagues and i took a lil’ trip outside of KK for some site inspection yesterday morning!  so, here i am again at this wee hour of the morning, awoken by some weird dreams and unable to get back to sleep, trying to scribble something about the trip.

I love the fresh view of the kiulu river!  it  is well- known and is said to be safe for children and gentle enough for elderly. kiulu is often tagged with “water rafting’ – one activity which I have always wanted to try BUT  have not gotten around doing! journeymalaysia.com stated in its website that the water rafting will “always begin with a safety briefing session conducted by professional raft guide who will demonstrate rafting techniques and proper handling of rafting equipment.. excursion covers up to 15km, making it the longest white water rafting trip in Borneo. The journey will take about 1 ½ – 2 hours of rafting before reaching the ending point”.

fruits & vegetable stall, plus a bodyguard!

we visited kem malangang about half an hour drive from kota kinabalu. (to be more specific it’s Pusat Kokurikulum Negeri Kem Malangang, Kiulu). a camping site in a place called kiulu, nearby the river is a camping ground.  a student club intends to have a program conducted here early next year. so we decided to check out the suitability of  the place! i have to admit this is the first time that i’ve visited this place – it does look and feels serene:)  one needs to make an advance booking to use the facilities.  you may ‘google’ the place for more details.

this kind of stall can be found in many places in sabah(above pic).  the man behind the ‘counter’ was OK with the picture taking – he gave us a ‘peace’ sign’ when we were about to leave!
